<description>Authenticity is likely the most effective campaign to have! Can we trust people enough to like and love us if we're not perfect! It probably is the next level in church marketing - people are still a little gunshy about being REAL. Its our human sinful nature to somehow project that we have it all figured out. And its the consumerism influence that we use to talk ourselves out of authenticity. We say, "if we show them the truth about how we are, then they'll say there's nothing life changing about Christ." So we, in a sense, are feeling the pressure to "glorify God" and making him look good - the problem is that we have somehow perverted the gospel into someone equating God's holiness with our perfection. So a campaign telling people about stories of brokenness and how Christ is changing them (not a "God changed everything already") - that might resonate the most.

We refer to church marketing as "maximizing communication" in order to proclaim the message of Christ to our communities. It's not about one particular medium. It's about all communication venues. And the best communication is 2-way (the only way really). So authenticity is the BEST way for us to communicate our position in Christ (not our "perfections") and then pray that the authenticity reaches deep into the hearts of others.
